U8 - U12 FQ MiniRoos

MiniRoos football caters for our younger players (boys and girls) to give them an introduction to the game and play against teams of similar ability.

U8-U12s MiniRoos participate in competitions administered through Football Queensland (FQ) with a home and away format. These games are generally played on a Saturday and kick off times vary.

Grading of players occurs (Wallabies, Quokkas & Kangaroos levels) from U8's and above, which happens at the start of the season. The club endeavours to place players in the teams that best reflect their development stage and skill level, while keeping friendship groups in mind. This enables players the best opportunity to develop their skills and confidence.

Players interested in the highest groupings "Kangaroo" for U9-U12 and Pre-Academy for U8s DO need to TRIAL which will be held in early February - please see details below.

There are no competitive tables or points scoring for MiniRoos teams - participation, development and enjoyment are the key goals.

Training

Weekly evening training sessions (days, times and field location vary by team and age group):

U8 Wallabies - Tuesday 5.15pm - 6.15pm
U9 Wallabies - Thursday 5.15pm - 6.15pm
U10 Wallabies - Wednesday 5.15pm - 6.15pm
U11 Wallabies - Wednesday 6.15pm - 7.15pm
U12 Wallabies - Wednesday 6.15pm - 7.15pm

Games

Saturday matches played within the Football Queensland (FQ) MiniRoos competition against other local clubs. FQ use the Squadi app to manage and communicate fixture details

The MiniRoos program is Football Australia’s nationally recognised development program designed for young players aged 8 to 12. Our Rovers MiniRoos teams provide a positive environment where players can continue building their skills, confidence and love for the game.

Every registered player at Rochedale Rovers FC, who has paid their deposit, receives both their home and away match kits, including jersey, shorts and socks.

*Football Queensland ($50 for U8-U11 & $66 for U12s paid through the Squadi app) and Football Australia ($18 - paid through PlayFootball.com.au registration platform) governing body fees are additional and must be paid each season before a player commences training and games.

We are finalising our 2026 U8 Pre-Academy teams and are calling for Expressions of Interest for final spots. If you have a motivated football-loving young player with some football experience, born in 2018, please complete your EOI for our upcoming trials ASAP.

We're excited to announce our trial dates and times are locked in for our 2026 U9-U12 Kangaroo teams and we’re now accepting Expressions of Interest.

Kangaroo teams are designed for players with a good grasp on the foundations of football. These teams are selected through trials and offer young players the opportunity to train two times per week and play in the highest level of community competition in their respective age groups, with players of more advanced skill sets.

If your child is born between 2014 and 2017 and is interested in trialling for our 2026 Kangaroo teams, please complete your Expression of Interest as soon as possible.

Trials are by invitation only. You must register an Expression of Interest to be considered.
