Sunset 6s 2026

Frequently Asked Questions

Got a question? Start here. We've answered the things parents, players and Team Managers ask most often.

Who can play?

Sunset 6s is a fun, social competition for boys and girls from U6 to U13 of all abilities. We welcome players from all clubs.

There are no trials. The focus is on playing, fitness, development and enjoyment.

What age group should my child play in?

Your child's age group is based on the age they turn during the calendar year.

For 2026:

Age Group Born
U6 2020
U7 2019
U8 2018
U9 2017
U10 2016
U11 2015
U12 2014
U13 2013
How many players are in a team?

Teams need a minimum of 7 players and can have up to 10 players.

Only 6 players, including the goalkeeper, are on the field at one time.

Do we need a Team Manager?

Yes. Every team must nominate a Team Manager who will be the main contact for the team.

Do we need to provide our own jerseys?

Yes. Teams organise their own playing shirts in one team colour.

The shirts do not have to be exactly the same. They simply need to be a close-enough match in colour.

Numbers are not required.

Important: Please don't choose BLACK as your team colour, as our referees wear black.

If teams have similar colours, bibs will be available from the Information and Equipment Area.

Where will we play?

Games will be played on the main field at AIS Arena, Rochedale Rovers Football Club, Underwood Park.

We'll be playing under the arena lights, in front of the grandstands and just down from the canteen.

To find your match field, first check your fixture HERE then check the field map HERE.

When will we play?

Sunset 6s is played on Wednesday nights.

Game days and kick-off times depend on the number of teams registered, so the final schedule cannot be confirmed until registrations are complete.

We'll provide the draw as soon as it is finalised.

Will the canteen be open?

Yes! Our canteen will be open serving awesome coffee, cold drinks and food.

Dinner's sorted on Wednesdays. 😊

Are toilets easily accessible?

Yes, most definitely.

Toilets are available downstairs at the side of the clubhouse and upstairs in the clubhouse.

How do we register?

Every single player must register in our Majestri system.

Register via Majestri

Every single player must also complete their Squadi registration and pay the required Football Queensland Play-On Football fee before taking the field.

You will be linked to Squadi once you complete your Majestri registration in our system.

Important: Both registrations must be completed and all required fees paid before a player can play.
What does it cost?

The competition fee is:
U6 - U7:   $90 club fee + $35 Football Queensland Play-On Football fee = $125
U8 - U13:  $110 club fee + $35 Football Queensland Play-On Football fee = $145

If you have already paid the $35 Football Qld Play-On Football fee for another eligible Football Queensland Play-On program this year, you will not need to pay it again.

Please note: According to Football Queensland (FQ), the regular FQ winter football season is not considered an FQ Play-On program.
Can my child join without a team?

Yes. We are accepting individual registrations.

We'll do our absolute best to create teams from individual registrations or find teams needing additional players.

However, team placement cannot be guaranteed.

If we can't find your child a suitable team position, a full refund will be provided.

What if we can't make a game?

Please let your Team Manager know as soon as possible.

If your team has at least 7 players available, hopefully this won't be an issue.

Please also let the competition organisers know as early as possible if your team cannot play.

At least 72 hours' notice is required so that we can notify your opposition and, where possible, make alternative arrangements. Unfortunately, a team forfeit will result in the fixture being awarded to the opposition as a 3 - 0 win, with the opposition receiving 3 points and 3 goals.  If no notification is received, or a team fails to turn up to their match, results will be recorded as 5-0 to the opposition, with 3 points and 5 goals being awarded.

Is training included?

No. Sunset 6s does not include team training.

The focus is on fun, social football and getting kids involved in the game.

When does the competition start?

The competition starts on Wednesday, 21 October 2026.

Where can I find the rules?

The Sunset 6s competition rules can be found on our Rules page.
