Can I register late after teams are formed?

Yes, however we encourage registrations by 31st January so our coordinators can organise players into teams as clubs have to nominate teams to Football Queensland by 10th February.

Therefore, it's highly recommended to register early to avoid disappointment.  Any late registrations that have friend requests can only be accomodated if those teams and age groups have vacancies.

What age group do we register for?

Girls and boys play in the age group in which they are turning during the calendar year.  For example, children turning 5 during the calendar year are eligible to register for our Squirts program (3 to 5 years of age). A player turning 8 during the calendar year will be eligible to play Under 8's.

Do we have all girls teams?

We are really pleased to offer both MIXED (Girls & Boys) and Girls only options (if sufficient number of girls register).

Mixed Miniroos (U6-U12) games are played on Saturday mornings against a mix of boys and girls teams.
Under 6 & U7's teams are played (in-house) only at Rochedale Rovers vs other Rochedale Rovers teams.

Girls Only (Under 8 to U13) this year we hope to increase the number of girls particpating in football at Rochedale Rovers.  To field all female teams will be reliant on the number of players registered.

We are always on the lookout for friends and/or school groups who may want to form a team and play for Rovers.

How does Miniroos U8's to U12's work?

Mini-Roos football caters for our younger players to give them an introduction to the game and play against teams of similar ability level. Ranging in age groups from U8 through to U12's.

U8-U12 age groups participate in competitions administered through Football Queensland (FQ) with a home and away format. These games are generally played on a Saturday however kick off times may vary.

Grading of players does occur (Wallabies, Quokkas & Kangaroos) from U8's and above, which happens at the start of the season. The club endeavours to place players in the teams that best reflect their development stage and skill level however keeping friendship groups in mind. This enables players the best opportunity to develop their skills and confidence. Players do need to trial for the highest grouping "Kangaroo" with trials to occur sometime in February with dates & times as set out below.

There are no competitive tables or points scoring for Mini-Roos teams - participation, development and enjoyment are the key goals.

When is grading for Kangaroos (Under 8 to Under 12)?

All players must be registered with the club to participate.  Kangaroo trials / grading is designed to allow players to play with and against players of similar ability.  In the event your child is not graded into a Kangaroo team, Rovers will put players into a team along with other children of equal ability.
