2025 Head Coach Announcement

Rochedale Rovers FC is excited to announce the appointment of Daniel Varma as the Senior Men’s Head Coach for the 2025 season. A well-known figure in the South-East football scene, Daniel has a name for himself both as a player and coach. Spending 9 years in the South Australian NPL playing for Cumberland United, West Torrens, Birkalla and South Adelaide before relocating back to his hometown Brisbane where he played with Eastern Suburbs and Redlands United. After a successful semi-professional playing career, Daniel has transitioned into coaching with great success, most recently leading Redlands United as Head Coach during the 2023 NPL season. 

With his A-Licence and extensive network of football contacts, Daniel brings both expertise and a wealth of connections to the club. Rochedale Rovers FC look forward to the exciting developments ahead under his leadership.

Club President Jonny Mckain expressed enthusiasm about the new appointment:

As a leading force in junior development with a Gold Licence from Football Queensland, and with our continued investment in the Women’s and Girls’ programs, achieving sustained success for our senior men’s team is crucial.

On his appointment Daniel had to say

"To re-enter football I needed a club, a project where I felt I could offer significant value. Where success would not only help my club but in so doing would propel my own football aspirations.  

Rovers presents this opportunity through its strong Youth Academy and the need for it to be further integrated into the Senior Program. I want Rochedale juniors and their parents to see a tangible pathway into the Senior Program.

As for my 1st team; what’s really important to me is that my players feel I care about them and value them as people first. I’m confident that players who’ve played under me would attest to how much I invested in who they are off the pitch as well as on it.

I have the privilege everyday to help people in my job as a Doctor. The most crucial element to this is the trust formed through a Doctor-patient relationship.

This holds true in football with player-coach connection paramount in ensuring success. Once this is established it flows through the collective, the buy in to tactics and the development of culture then becomes easier. To see a happy and successful 1st team with clear links to the youth academy is all I can hope to deliver."
